About lotteries

Hi, folks! Oleks here! Today I want to discuss with you a topic of lotteries. I'm deeply convinced that the lotteries are immoral as Ponzi schemes. From the fact that people understand that they are being fooled, fraud does not cease to be a fraud. The rich, the crooks and the governments are trying by any means to lure the people their last money. The fact that the lotteries are held legally, and some ones held even by governments, indicates a low level of morality. I hope that someday our society will grow to a level at which lotteries will be forever in the past.

Well done again, Oleks! I strongly agree with you. In a lot of countries, governments and large companies are stealing money from people through lotteries and other get-rich-quick scams. People should be aware of that and try not to fall into their trap.

Here, I have tried to make minimum corrections. As always, you are improving. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, Aliakbar! Differences in use "the" and "a" still a difficult topic for me, but I'm trying.

Hi Oleks,

I completely agree with you. People I have known (in the past) have become addicted to doing the lottery each week and I remember they were convinced that they would eventually win a huge amount of money. Of course they did not and ended up spending way too much money.

With regards to your written and spoken English, it is coming along very nicely indeed! Make sure you keep practicing.

I would like to add the following.

1. " lotteries will be forever in the past." This phrase is not wrong. I would tend to use the following one though which (to me) sounds a bit more natural. "lotteries will be a thing of the past".

2. "lotteries"  + "morality" + "rich" + "morality"I still think you need to work on your pronunciation of the "r" sound in English. You need to make it softer. Watch a video like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN4PtqeKCoE

and listen to me saying these words a few times.

Thank you, Edhutchins88! "A thing of the past" - interesting phrase! "R" sound I'll try to pronounce better next time.
