Blackberry

Yesterday I came to work, and my colleague told me, "now blackberry ripened, there is a lot of it on the market; so I recommend you to stock some of it for the winter".

I didn't want to take it at first, because I already have a full freezer: half of it filled with blackcurrants and another half with meat and fish for everyday's use.

But I like blackberry even more than blackcurrant; so I went to the market, bought 8 kilograms and froze it. It barely fit in the freezer.

I live in a steppe area. There are about 100 kilometers to the nearest decent forest, so we have nothing here to pick in the wild. The only thing left for us is the market.

Well done Oleks! I love blackberries smiley I had blackberry jam today and I was surprised when I saw your post.

Regarding your text, here are some tweaks. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Blackberry

Yesterday, (A comma is needed.) I came to work (No comma is needed.) and my colleague told me, "now blackberry ripened blackberries are ripe (Also, ‘are in season’.), there is a lot of it on the market; so, I recommend you to stock some of it for the winter".

I didn't want to take it do that (Or perhaps ‘take the advice’.) at first because I already have had a full freezer: half of it filled with blackcurrants and another the other half with meat and fish for everyday's use.

But I like blackberry even more than blackcurrant; so, I went to the market, bought 8 kilograms and froze it. It barely fit in the freezer.

I live in a steppe area. There are about 100 kilometers to It is 100 kilometers away from the nearest decent forest, so we have nothing here there is nothing to pick in the wild. The only thing left for us is the market. We can only buy fruit on the market.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you, Kjcoffin! I thought that if I refer to a blackberry as a species in general, I need to mention it in the singular. Now I understand that I must use the plural in any case.

Hi Oleks,

Wow! 8 kg of blackberries must have cost you a lot of money! In England, fresh fruit tends to be very expensive. It is a shame, as it is very healthy.  That is why I am planning on growing my own fruit to save money.

Your writing and speaking skills just keep on improving, so make sure you keep practicing yes

I would like to add the following.

1. I recommend you to stock some of it for the winter - remember - you are referring to more than one blackberry, so ensure you remember to use the plural form. "I advise / recommend you to stock some of them for the winter. "

2. "I didn't want to take it at first" - As Aliakbar has mentioned, it would make things clearer to say "I didn't want to take his advice at first"

3. But I like blackberry even more than blackcurrant Make sure both subjects are in the plural form. "But I like blackberries even more than blackcurrants."

4. I went to the market, bought 8 kilograms and froze it - Same with this one "I went to the market, bought 8 kilograms and froze them"

5. It barely fit in the freezer. - And with this one "as you are referring to many fruits" "They barely fit in the freezer"

6. The only thing left for us is the market. "We can only buy fruit in the market."

Hi, Edhutchins88! Thank you for your comment! They cost me 12 pounds. I would like to grow it too. In the future I want to buy a piece of land.
