Desert 95

The two warriors in front of me retreated a few steps, then turned and ran back to the holes. I did not pursue them or throw the javelins to hit them, although these javelins were scattered everywhere in large numbers. A more urgent task was to help Ghom deal with the big guy with the longsword that was hitting him. Ghome barely was managing to fight back. This burly man, it seems, was not going to run away.

Good job again, Oleks! Keep it up!

The two warriors in front of me retreated a few steps, then, [comma needed] turned and ran back to the holes. I did not neither pursued them nor throw threw the javelins to hit them, although these (Also, the) javelins were scattered everywhere in large numbers. A more urgent task was to help Ghom deal with the big guy with (Also, holding) the longsword that was hitting him. Ghome barely was barely managing to fight back. Thank you, Ali! I agree that "with a big guy with the longsword" sounds a bit unnatural.

Hi Oleks - very little to change here.  You're getting so good!  Just be careful about making your words distinct.  I found 'A more urgent task was' quite difficult to make out.

Hi Oleks,

I think you did the right thing! I have been told that in battle it is vital to look out for your fellow soldiers! If you had left Ghome to fend for himself, he would have died!

Again, Ros and Aliakbar have done a good job of correcting your English. Just a couple of very minor observations from me

  • I did not pursue them or throw the javelins to hit them, - "throw the javelins to hit them" is not grammatically incorrect. However, it does sound quite strange to me. I would simply say "throw the javelins at them". You know that if you throw a javelin at someone, your aim is to hit them so (in my opinion) it is unnecessary to add the phrase "to hit them".
  • In English, you don't tend to "hit someone" with a sword, you tend to "strike them with one" if that makes sense.

Hi Ed! Thank you! I think you are right - "to hit" there is unnecessary. It interesting about the "strike with a sword", I will memorize it.
