If you want to achieve your goals, you need to develop certain skills. The importance of this is hard to overestimate. If you would not run from side to side, but purposefully develop in one direction, you gradually come to understand how to do this work in the best way. Also, it makes sense to start with a pattern that has already proven its efficiency.

Good job, Oleks!

If you want to achieve your goals, you need to develop certain skills. The importance of this is hard to overestimate. If you would do not run from side to side, but purposefully develop move/proceed in one direction, you will (Conditional Type 1) gradually come to understand how to do this the work in the best way possible. Also, it makes sense to start with a pattern that has already proven its efficiency (Also, ‘proven to be efficient’).

Hi Oleks,

Thanks for this, great audio!

I would actually probably change 'overestimate' to its antonym, 'underestimate' , and flip the sentence stucture as follows: 'You can not underestimate the importance of learning new skills in order to achieve your aims'. Instead of just saying 'the importance of this', I would always give the sentence context so the reader knows what you are referring to.

I would probably change the below sentence to: Also, it makes sense to start with a pattern which has already proven to be efficient.

Thanks,

Becky =]

Hi Oleks,

Again, another very intelligent piece of advice.

Instead of focusing on a particular set of skills I need to acquire to reach my goals, I keep getting distracted!

It comes down to my time management skills, I think. For instance, I am well aware of the skills I need to improve to reach my goal of becoming a better tennis player and (ultimately) winning a local competition. (I need to work on my serve, my footwork etc.) However, I don't spend anywhere near enough time practicing these skills each week. That's why I'm still a mediocre player sad!

In terms of your English, the others have done a great job of evaluating it.

I would just add the following point

1. If you do not run from side to side This phrase does not sound natural to me as a native English speaker. In fact I have never heard of it before. Instead, I would say something like "If you do not deviate from your habits/developing the skills you require..."

Let me know if you have any questions :)

Hi Ed! I myself doubted this phrase. Thank you for giving me a new English idiom! I also often get distracted from my goals by unnecessary things. Now my goal is to create a website in English.
