Today's a day off

Hi, people!

Thank you for your guesswork! I think you are all right and my answer is just one of many. My answer is more specific: it's "The Fool" - card number zero of Major Arcana in a Tarot pack.

I was absent on Lingora for three days because I was engaged in reparing the apartment after work, so I come back home very tired. I had enough strength just to eat and go to bed. Nevertheless, I studied English but only with Anki, Elevate, videos on YouTube, and I was reading PDF-book: "Diary of a Zombie Survivor". I can't say that I'm very delighted with reading it but I've already read half and I want to finish it."

Today is a day off and I'm planning to make four posts to return all debts.

Hi Oleks, welcome back! Actually, I was wondering why you were not posting anymore. I am glad to know that you are well. By the way, your writing gets better every time you post something new. Keep up the good work!

Regarding your text, here are some tweaks:

Today's A Day Off

Hi, people!

Thank you for your guesswork! I think hope (Not sure if I got it right here!?) you are all right. And My answer is just one of many (What do you mean?). My answer is more specific: it's "The Fool" - card number zero of Major Arcana in a Tarot pack.

Hi, Aliakbar! I wanted to write the following: I think all your answers are correct (you are all right and not wrong), and my answer is just one of the many possible correct answers. After reading your comment I clearly understood where I made mistakes in writing. Thank you for your comment, it very useful, as always.

Hi Oleks,

I truly admire your dedication to practicing your speaking and writing skills in English as often as you do! I need to be more like you with the languages I learn haha! As Aliakbar said, welcome back smiley

What went wrong with your apartment? Things are always going wrong in my house. Yesterday, the shower started leaking, so I need to repair it.

Here are some additional observations with regards to your text.

1. I was absent on Lingora for three days  - I was absent from Lingora..... In English you are absent from somewhere.

Hi, Edhutchins88! Thank you! I'm glad I'm here.

It's not my apartment, but my friend's. I help him to do a major repair, now there are only bare walls.

Hi Oleks!  My fellow editors have made some good suggestions already.  Just looking at your response to Ed, when you said "I help him to do ....."  it would be better to use either the past tense "I helped him" or, if the repairs are still to be completed, you could say "I am helping him to do..."

It's best not to say "very delighted" as "delighted" is sufficient.  We would say "very happy" though.

There's a good short stories book I use with my students.  It's called "English Short Stories for Intermediate Learners" by Olly Richards.  It might be a bit easy for you but it's got some good vocabulary in it and a summary and questions at the end of each chapter.  I got the hard copy from Amazon but I think you can also get the Kindle edition.

Warm regards

Ros
