Hi Tatyana,

Thanks very much for this free lesson smiley

I am learning Arabic words by watching videos by this teacher on Youtube called Maha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qagBMwIaT2k

The issue I am having is that it is very difficult to read Arabic for me. I think this is because the Arabic alphabet is completely different from the Latin alphabet that English speakers are accustomed to.

Would you be able to recommend any websites, books or videos which help English speakers (like myself) learn how Arabic words are formed?

Hi Tatyana,

I suppose I just want to start learning basic words and phrases such as "Hello, how are you?", "What's your name?" and "How are you?". It would be great if you could post some audios which teach Arabic learners like me how to pronounce these words and phrases smiley If you are having trouble using Lingora's media recorder when adding audios, I would recommend using a website like this one: https://online-voice-recorder.com/ and then upload the recording to Lingora.

That Youtube video you recommended about learning vowels in the Arabic language is very good indeed. I will make sure I watch it.

I have heard of memrise and used it to help me learn Spanish and French. I did not realise they also had Arabic lessons on there too! That's great news - I will definitely use Memrise too!

I am sure I will have more questions for you very soon :)

Thanks so much for your help and advice!

Hi Tatyana.  This is really interesting.  I think the Arabic script is really beautiful.  It would actually suit me because I am left handed and when I first started to write, I wrote from right to left (as I believe you do in Arabic!).  Unfortunately, though, I had to unlearn this tendency and learn to write from left to right!
