Subject: JOBS

Subject: JOBS

Aristotle, one of the greatest philosophers in history said, “A pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work”. A lot of us work in the career they had always dreamed of it, while others didn’t have the chance to be in the job they’ve wanted. But if we don’t love what we do, there won’t be any pleasure in our life.

When I was at Secondary school, I used to think a lot about the day I will be a pharmacist, my dream job, I love to deal with things related to medicines, injections, etc. Fortunately, I have achieved part of this dream. I am working now as a pharmacist for my parents. I still remember when I was helping my Math teacher to explain lesson for students, I was among the first in Math Subject and I was intending to be a Math teacher. Besides that, I hope to have this job that won’t make me sleep at night, and have always a headache, but at the same time will give me the most wonderful feeling in life which is mother job. On other hand, I can’t imagine myself working as waitress due to my friend advices, who always complains about bad customers and how the manager obliged her to not make the client feel angry. The Second job that I’m not planning to make it part of my life is the journalist job because it needs a person who talks a lot which is not compatible with my personality. Also, I would hate any job consist of duties like informing someone that he will be fired from work, like Human Resources job. Moreover, I wouldn’t mind working as a baby sitter, I turn into a child when I sit with group of babies. I love cooking and good at it, so I would love to be a cooker if there someone will clean after me. However, my brother’s manager offered me to be a tour guide for his company. I didn’t accept because I don’t know a lot of places and I wasn’t good at English, while now I wouldn’t mind thinking for applying for it.

Eventually, many o f us have struggled with their jobs and duties which make them sometimes procrastinate to finish these duties. It may be hard to find the job you love or you have dreamed about it. But I believe that, once we have the chance to do what we are passionate about, we shouldn’t think twice to accept it.

Hello Imam,

Another really well written, engaging and informative text from you! Keep it up. Again, I completely agree with you; we should always aim to find a job we are truly passionate about.

Just a few things I would like to point out

1. A lot of us work in the career they had always dreamed of it, A lot of us work in the career we have always dreamed of. (No need for the word "it" as it is clear what you are referring to)

2.  I still remember when I was helping my Math teacher to explain lesson for students - I still remember when I was helping my Math teacher explain lessons to students. (In English, you explain something to someone)

3.  I was among the first in Math Subject To make this clearer, I would say "I was one of the top / best students in my Math class. "

4.  have always a headache - always have a headache (Just a word order issue here)

5.  the most wonderful feeling in life which is mother job Could you explain what you mean by "mother job"? It does not really make sense.

6. On other hand,  On the other hand

7.  I can’t imagine myself working as waitress  I can't imagine myself working as a waiter. (If you were a woman, you would say "waitress" but for men, it is "waiter)

8. my friend advices my friend's advice ("advice" does not have a plural form)

9.  I’m not planning to make it part of my life (In English, you don't make jobs part of your life, you simply "do a job". ) "The second job that I'm not planning to do is..."

10. I would hate any job consist of duties  I would hate any job which consists of duties...

11. like Human Resources job  like a job in Human Resources.

12. I love cooking and good at it, I love cooking and I'm good at it.

13. I would love to be a cooker if there someone will clean after me (In English, the word is "chef". ) I would love to be a chef if there was someone who would clean up after me

14.  thinking for applying for it.. (In English, you think about doing something. ) thinking about applying for it.

hi Edhutchins88, an amazing, informative modification.

by the way, I am a girl not a boy that's why I wrote waitress my name is IMAN)

regarding (mother job), I meant that I hope to be a mother and have duties like she has (mother job).

Glad to hear that you find it useful Iman! Apologies I thought you were a man. (Don't know why I presumed that. Silly me haha. )

Ah yes, now I see what you mean. You could also say "In the future, I hope to be a mother and I'd love to have all the responsibilities mothers have. ("have duties like she has" sounds a bit strange to me).

Hey! Thanks for this.

As well as the corrections above, I've just made a few suggestions for your rephrasing of 'I am now working as a pharmacist for my parents'. Your phrasing is not incorrect, but thought you may find it useful to know of some alternative ways to word this sentence:

- Now, I'm working as a pharamacist for my parents

- I'm currently working as a pharamacist for my parents

By the way, great job with spelling! I didn't spot any errors.

Thanks,

Becky :)
