Vacation Activities

Hello,

I love to go on vacation it’s a new experience I love to meet new people and also I love to learn about new cultures. If I have the possibility I’d like to be able to travel as much as possible.

I actually only traveled to Mexico and United States ( Disney world and NYC). My wish is to visit Canada, London, Cuba, Costa Rica and Italy.

Thank you in advance.

Hey Anairis,

Welcome to Lingora! Great to have you here.

I am very impressed with your writing skills in English. When did you start learning English?

Like you I love going to new countries and exploring new places. I am from London, so let me know if you have any questions about it. It is a great city with plenty of things to see and do but the weather is not great. It rains a lot. haha!

With regards to your text, please see some of my comments.

1.  I love to go on vacation it’s a new experience -> (You need to ensure you use some punctuation here to separate the sentence) I love to go on vacation, it is a new experience (contractions should only be used when writing informally)

2. If I have the possibility I’d like to be able to travel as much as possible. You need to use the conditional tense here, as you are speculating about what you would do. "If I had the possibility, I would like to be able to travel as much as possible.

Thank you so much to take your time to check my text. I am taking English clases, My current level is advance but I have issues with my grammar structure and my writing skills, anyways I love English and I want to become fluently and be able to speak and write as a native English speaker.

I heard that in your country most of the time is raining, but anyways is a great country and interesting place to visit. One day I would like to visit your country because the history and museums are very interesting.

Have you ever been in Dominican Republic?

Nice to meet you!

Hello Anairis,

As I say, make sure you keep posting texts and audios on here. As the saying goes "practice makes perfect".:-)

You should definitely come to England. There are many historical buildings to see and the countryside is very beautiful. If you decide to come, make sure you let me know and I can show you around :-) I am from London, so I would love to give you a tour of my hometown.

I have not yet been to the Dominican Republic, pero me encantaría ir algún día. Estoy aprendiendo el español entonces sería una buena oportunidad para practicar el idioma con hablantes nativos :-) ¿Cuáles son las mejores cosas para ver y hacer en tus pais?

Hi, Anairis. Good job! You have great English skills. All you have to do that is fine tune your skills to become proficient. I would recommend that you read a lot of English texts to become familiar with English structures and advanced grammar. Choose texts that you are interested in so that you will also enjoy the journey. Regarding your text, Ed has already mentioned two useful tips which you can have in mind to improve your English skills. I would like to add one more regarding the part "I actually only traveled ..."; since you are talking about a happening at an unspecified time in the past, you should use the present perfect tense. Keep posting and keep improving! Good luck! If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them.

Hi! Thanks or Anairis!

I agree that travelling is great fun!

Just to note that 'I love to meet new people' should be 'I love meeting new people' - this makes it clearer to the reader that you're speaking in the present tense about the way you currently feel about meeting new people.

'Vacation; is generally how 'holiday' is said in American English. However, in English, we say 'I'm going on holiday' more commonly than the American way of phrasing it as 'I'm taking a vacation'.

Don't forget, 'travelled' is spelt with a double 'l', so just watch out for this with other words.

Thanks,

Hope to hear from you again soon!

Becky :)

Hi Anairis!  How are you?  Lovely to hear from you and I look forward to your next post.  I found very few errors in your writing.  Well done!  Just a couple of points below:

I love to go on vacation[.] it’s a new experience[.] I love to meet new people and also I [also] love to learn about new cultures. If I have the possibility [opportunity is a better word here] I’d like to be able to travel as much as possible.  [I'd  is absolutely fine as a contraction of "I would"]

I [have] actually only traveled [Use the present perfect here to show you are speaking about something you did in the past which is relevant now] to Mexico and United States ( Disney world and NYC). My wish is to visit Canada, London, Cuba, Costa Rica and Italy.

Thank you in advance.
